CHECKING IN: Hotel Indigo, Birmingham

I am a self confessed hotel obsessive. I find it such an indulgent treat to check in. I love researching new places to find design focused accommodation that offers great value, service and those extra finishing touches. For me staying away from home should never be a chore and I’d always rather spend that little bit extra to turn it into a proper treat than feel forced into spending money simply for somewhere to lay my head for the night.

So when it was announced that the latest Tropic Product Launch was to be held in Birmingham I set about finding a cute place to stay and was so happy to discover Hotel Indigo.

Sat right on the canals it is a perfect location for exploring restaurants and shopping districts. The huge bedroom had all those special details that stop it feeling like just another hotel chain, with beautiful mirrors and light fittings and an amazing view of the city. I also loved the addition of iPhones loaded with tourist information for all guests it was full of inspiration of places to visit, eat and explore during your stay.

For us though it was all about relaxing so we immediately changed into our fluffy white robes and made our way to the spa for a couple of hours in the pool and sauna before dinner. With low lighting and plenty of reclining seats it was the dreamiest space to collect our thoughts after the drive, read a book and settle into our 24hr mini break!

We were spoiled for choice with dinner but settled on Marco Pierre White’s pizzeria, with views straight onto the canals, lights twinkling prosecco poured and gorgeous food before heading back up to the very top of the Cube for cocktails in the plush skyline bar. Live music and a restaurant packed with customers made the vibe addictive it was relaxed, sophisticated and elegant (I’d never felt quite so fancy!) the views over the city were incredible and the margaritas, top notch.

A very cosy sleep under those crisp white sheets and I was almost sorry I didn’t have more time to explore around the hotel before disappearing off to the product launch. But there was one last bit of luxury to appreciate – breakfast in bed! A knock at the door and our gorgeous trays filled with fruit, pastries and hot food for J arrived. THE DREAM. Fluffy robes back on and a slow start to what would be a very busy day was the perfect finish to our whirlwind stay.

I can’t wait for an excuse to return (desperate to go to the bowling alley come bar that we spied downstairs on our way back from dinner) and to hopefully visit some other hotels in this gorgeous chain!

If you’d like to visit Hotel Indigo Birmingham prices start from £110/night
