Eating Out: Dirt Pop Up 2020

This time last year (in fact weirdly on this exact same day!) I published my first ever write up on Dirt after a cold BRILLIANT evening huddled up with water bottles, great food and new friends at Dusty Knuckle. Fast forward 12 months and I’ve now been to 4 of these glorious supper clubs and every time I love them more.

This time hiding away from the storm in the beautiful Waterloo Lakeside we settled in for a brand new 6 course menu, with lights twinkling and cans of Whole Earth Ginger Beer
The first course was perfectly pressed potatoes (think SUPER FANCY hashbrowns-the ultimate winter comfort food) on a creamy burnt cauliflower puree with crispy kale and fresh tomatoes, followed by the most amazing plate of tempura pak choi with kimchi and miso mayonnaise. This dish in particular was PHENOMENAL, I’m going to say, the best plate of food I’ve ever had…! Big words I know. But it was just THAT GOOD.

Oyster Mushroom and coconut curry followed with courgette noodles and a deep hearty flavour that warms your heart and then two sticky cheesy, smokey arancini balls with a hint of barbeque running through them.

But the crowning glory goes to the dessert to end all desserts. There are not enough words for this indulgent masterpiece, and I say that as someone who isn’t always the biggest desert person. But you couldn’t not fall for this sticky fudgey chocolate plate, with smooth icecream, scorched banana and peanut brittle, it was decadent, rich but not too much, just brilliantly balanced textures and flavours beautifully presented.

Of course, this supper club will not be my last and with more vegan events going in the diary, it’s sure to be another amazingly successful year for this talented team. If you want to attend, and I would seriously advise you do, it’s great as a date night, or birthday celebration but be quick these tickets always sell in record breaking time seriously 48hrs on this one(!?) so turn your notifications on!!

Head on over to for all the latest and follow the guys on social @dirtpopup
